Hillary Clinton Compares Alleged Russian Interference with 9/11

Hillary Clinton compared Russia’s alleged interference in last year’s presidential elections with September 11, 2001, when nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the terrorist attacks that happened in the U.S.

“We have really well-respected security and intelligence veterans saying this was a kind of cyber 9/11 in the sense that it was a direct attack to American institutions. That may sound dramatic, but we know they tried to recruit into election systems, not just social media propaganda,” Clinton said and added that if she had been elected instead of Donald Trump, she would have called for an independent commission to get to the bottom of it.

Trump has yet to explicitly acknowledge Russia’a meddling in the election, despite special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into the matter and Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, Newsweek reports. Even Jon Huntsman, the new American Ambassador to Russia, confirmed that there is no question Moscow interfered in the elections, but for Trump that is a hoax and an excuse used by Democrats to explain their defeat.

“Trump is still trying to please Putin,” Clinton said on Sunday. She also warned the threat to American democracy coming from Russia is not over and that the new cold war will be partially carried out through cyberattacks.

“The Russians ain’t done, this is an ongoing threat and that is one of the reasons why I wrote the book and one of the reasons I’m talking about it,” Hillary said.

She promoted her book “What Happened” in London in front of many people who went to meet the first woman who was a presidential nominee of a major political party. Hillary denied the claims that her husband Bill told her not to publish her book about last year’s election, Daily Mail reports.

“My husband read every page of the book, gave me great editorial suggestions, said it was critically important to get it out. He was surprised that I wanted to get it out as quickly as I did, but he fully supported that,” she said.
