Report: U.S. Plans More Sanctions for Venezuelan President Associates

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. is planning to impose more sanctions against associates of the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, The Hill reports.

Bloomberg reports that “two people familiar with the matter,” said that the fresh sanctions on 10 to 20 more individuals could come Tuesday, but the move may also be postponed while the Trump administration seeks an international effort to punish Maduro.

According to the report, the U.S. will make efforts to persuade South American and European countries to impose sanctions as well. The report of the new sanctions comes after the Treasury Department sanctioned thirteen former and current officials of the Venezuela government last month, prior to the country’s election.
