Greenpeace Hangs Banner on Trump Tower in Chicago

Greenpeace protesters hung a banner from Trump Tower in Chicago reading “Resist, Defend” on Friday, The Hill reports.

The group aimed to protest President Trump’s policies on climate change. The news website Chicagoist reports that seven people were arrested after the banner was hung on Trump Tower. Greenpeace posted about the protest banner on their Facebook page.

“Activists have just raised a massive banner at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago to show this administration that the people of Chicago – and people all over the country – will continue to RESIST Trump’s attacks on our clean air and water, and defend our communities and the planet!” the post reads.

The environmental group has been outspoken against the Trump administration’s environmental policies. Greenpeace activists previously hung a massive “resist” banner from a crane in Washington, D.C. in January that was positioned behind the White House.

Earlier this week, the group projected the words “No Trump, Yes Paris” onto a building in Warsaw, Poland as Trump arrived in the city ahead of a Group of 20 summit in Germany.

The slogan is a rebuke of the Trump’s decision last month to withdraw the U.S. from the landmark Paris climate agreement.
